Product Details

The Trust Waterford olive bit is a standard side bit combined with the special Waterford mouthpiece. The mouthpiece is made up of several rounded, movable links, which do not allow the horse to lie on the bit. The recognisable blue colour is the Sweet Iron coating. This coating oxidises on contact with moisture and forms rust on the surface. This rust tastes sweet to horses, who accept the bit better and are more inclined to start foaming and chewing. With the olive-head bit, the rings cannot move independently of each other, so the bit rests particularly quietly and stably in the horse's mouth. What's more, the correct position of the bit prevents the sensitive corners of the mouth from being pinched. This combination of olive head and Waterford allows the rider's aids to be transmitted directly. It should be noted that the Waterford mouthpiece can act very sharp with a strong hand.

Note: when the mouthpiece is not in use, a thin layer of orange-brown rust forms on the mouthpiece. This layer can be removed with a damp cloth and is not a quality defect!
