The Kimblewick bit is like a jumping curb bit. The difference is the milder effect and that it is ridden with only one rein. Here, the rider can decide for himself how sharp he wants the bit to be. As a principle, the further down the reins are attached, the stronger the leverage and the sharper the bit. In addition, the special side piece gives the rider more control over the horse than with a standard side piece.
