Felt back pad for dressage. Nothing can replace the effectiveness of wool felt for a saddle pad ...

Your horse's back is protected thanks to the following advantages:

The ergonomic shape that fits perfectly into the panels of Dressage saddles from the leading saddlers,

The front part is very open to eliminate pressure on the withers,

The orthopaedic foams help to absorb pressure points and are covered in leather to prevent the saddle from slipping,

The 2 layers of wool felt offer an optimum compromise between cushioning and thinness (2 layers of 4 mm wool felt, each with a density of 0.3 gr/cm²) to ensure close contact with your horse.

If your horse has very high withers, we can make a customised shock absorber with specifically adapted foam thicknesses on either side of the withers (choice: "compensated at the withers" on the article). Similarly, we offer a specific reinforcement for horses with a slightly hollow back (choice: "compensated at the kidney" on the article), allowing you to position your saddle optimally on your horse's back.

Dr Thierry Grisard, FEI veterinary surgeon

"Examining the back and its relationship with the saddle is part of my protocol for examining the musculoskeletal system. I recommend using the shock absorbers from Atelier de Pravins when the padding is sagging, too flat or too narrow. I sometimes recommend compensated models to raise the pommel or cantle if necessary.

The advantage of felt is that it doesn't absorb too much energy, so there's little alteration to the rider's proprioception and the information transmitted to the horse by its seat.

Doctor Yves Caillard, veterinary osteopath

"As an osteopathic vet, I always check that the saddle is well adapted to the horse. I regularly recommend the shock absorbers from Atelier de Pravins for their cushioning qualities despite their thinness, for the opening at withers level which allows the withers to be released easily and for the orthopaedic foams which allow small imperfections in the padding to be erased".

Charlotte Issler, animal osteopath

"I recommend the Pravins Atelier shock absorbers because they don't take up too much space under the saddle, let the back work thanks to the opening at withers level and can adapt to different back morphologies (very outgoing withers, horse made on the way down...) while rebalancing the rider and thus allowing better neck-back stretching or preservation of the toraco-lumbar hinge."
